Description:

The Stevens 404 rifle was manufactured circa 1913-16. Only an estimated 250 were manufactured due to the entry of the U.S. into WWI. This example has a 44 1/2 action and is marked with the J. Stevens A&T address and patent marking on the barrel on the right near the breech, "22 L.R." on the left, "0" on the face of the frame, a circled "P" on the barrel right at the breech, a circled "I" on the upper left flat of the receiver, the three line trademark information on the left side of the action, and matching serial numbers. The rifle has the standard globe front sight, Lyman receiver peep sight, factory checkered semi-beavertail forearm, and a smooth straight wrist stock with hard rubber buttplate. There is a sling swivel on the underside of the barrel, and it is also equipped with a Lyman 5A scope.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 95% plus of the original blue finish and case colors remain. There is some slight loss at the muzzle and minor handling marks. The wood is also very fine with two small holes on the forearm for a palmrest, crisp checkering, and minor handling marks. The action functions perfectly, and the scope is clear. The markings are distinct.
