Description:

Manufactured from 1896 to 1916. The heavy custom barrel is marked "H.M. POPE" on top. This is an early Jersey City Pope barrel which is marked "186/25" over "5/30/09" and "H.M. POPE" under the forearm. There are no front or rear sight seats, and the barrel is fitted with a J.W. Fecker 1 1/4 inch target scope (22 inches long, marked "1822") on Fecker mounts. The casehardened No. 44 1/2 action is fitted with double set triggers and a four-finger loop lever. Mounted on a straight grain forearm and pistol grip stock. The stock is fitted with a casehardened Schuetzen buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains 97% of the blue finish with most of the loss confined to the muzzle. The action retains 80% of the case colors with the buttplate a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting. The wood is fine as period refinished with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Scope optics are good. Mechanically
