Description:

The No. 47 was manufactured from 1896 to 1916. This example has a globe front sight, scope mounting blocks, and a non-factory peep sight with aperture disk. It is marked with the two-line J. Stevens A & T Co. address and patent information on the upper right barrel flat, the caliber designation on the upper left flat, and the serial number on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forearm and on the lower tang. The underside of the barrel has a base and post for a palm rest. The Schuetzen style buttstock and Schnabel forearm are smooth walnut, and it has a casehardened Swiss buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 90% plus of the original blue finish and over 75% of the rich case colors which are partially faded on the buttplate. There are a few nicks and scratches and some light spotting. The re-oiled wood is very good with small pressure marks minor scratches the action is excellent.
