Description:

The horn is 14 inches long from the outside edge of the spot around to the cap and has rebated sections. The body of the horn has a floral motif and an angel between two oak leaves. The inscription reads: "ALLE KUNST IST UMSUNST WENN/EIN ENGEL/AU DAS ZUNDLOCK BRUNT." This translates to: "All skill is in vain when an Angel pisses in the touch hole of your musket." It is said to be an old German proverb reminding soldiers and hunters to keep their powder dry and use reliable weapons. This original powder horn is most likely from Pennsylvania and would make an exceptional accessory for your long rifle!

Rating Definition:

Very good. The spout plug is absent, and the horn has moderate overall wear including staining. The last letter of the inscription is mostly worn away.
