Description:

The "No. 4 Revolver - New Model" revolvers were manufactured circa 1877-78. Only about 20% of the estimated 23,000 No. 4s manufactured were chambered for the .41 rimfire cartridge and very few were factory engraved and specially finished. This example has matching serial numbers on the underside of the top strap, top of the bottom strap, and back of the cylinder (partial and hand marked). The cylinder, cylinder pin, and hammer are gold washed, and the rest of the revolver is nickel plated. 75% plus of the metal surfaces are covered in factory style scroll and punch dot engraving patterns. The grips are smooth mother of pearl. The left panel has a "CGC" monogram in black. The revolver comes in a small hardwood case with a matching "CGC" monogrammed lid plaque, bright red lining, and a cartridge block containing fifteen cartridges with various headstamps.

Rating Definition:

Exceptional with 98% plus of the nickel plating remains with some light handling and storage marks. The majority of the gold wash remains with a slight cycling mark. The monogrammed grips are very fine with a repaired chip on the forward right panel. The engraving and markings are crisp, and the action functions very well. The case is fine with minor wear to the lining. This is an exceptional Remington dual tone revolver worthy of the finest collection.
