Description:

Under 13,000 of these pistols were manufactured by the Chicago Firearms Co. in the 1890s. Only an estimated 1,000 had a blue finish. The right side is marked "THE PROTECTOR PAT.MCH.6.83.AUG.29.93" in a circle at the center. The removable left side plate is marked "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO. CHICAGO, ILL" in a circle at the center and has a textured border. The matching serial number is marked on the inside of the frame, on the side plate, and on the unique nickel plated cartridge block. It has a checkered hard rubber plunger pad and matching side plate inserts.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 75% plus of the bright original high polish blue finish remains. The balance primarily displays gray patina. The side plates are fine, and the intact plunger pad is fine. The left side plate is warped upward in a circular pattern and both are partially smoothed. The plunger pad has crisp checkering and only minor handling marks. The action functions fine, and the markings are clear.
