This rifle was manufactured in 1896. It features dovetailed blade front sight with bead, rear sight filler block, tang mounted peep sight, half magazine, checkered forearm with star shaped mother of pearl inlay on the bottom, and a checkered straight wrist stock with round mother of pearl inlays near the junction with the frame and a checkered hard rubber buttplate with the Rampant Colt emblem. The top barrel flat is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./PATENTED MAY 29, SEPT. 18, 83, MAY 26, 85, JUNE 15, 86, FEB. 22, 87". The upper left rear flat is marked "22 Cal." The Rampant Colt is marked on the left side of the frame, and the serial number is located on the lower tang.

Very fine as period customized. 90% plus of the original blue finish with some small patches of brown and gray patina and some light spotting. The period custom checkered wood is fine with crisp checkering and only light scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent, and the markings are crisp.
