This revolver's low serial number places its date of manufacture around 1871 (the first year of production). This four shot version is known as the "Cloverleaf" due to the shape of the cylinder when viewed from the front. The top of the barrel is marked "COLTS HOUSE PISTOL/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses. Floral scroll and punch dot engraving is featured on the rear sides of the frame, behind the hammer, and on the sides of the spur trigger. The front sight is an integral "pinched" style blade, and the rear sight is a groove in the top strap. The barrel, butt, and underside of the grips (partial) are marked with matching serial numbers.

Fine as professionally replated. most of the nickel plating and nitre blue finish remain with a few minor marks and scratches. The revarnished grips are very good with only mild handling marks. The action functions very well, and the engraving and markings are crisp.
