Description:

Manufactured in 1863 under contract with the U.S. Ordnance Department with "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the three screw frame which is cut for a shoulder stock, the one-line "NEW-YORK" barrel address, Texas Navy cylinder scene, small inspection markings, all matching serial numbers except for the replaced wedge, German silver blade and hammer notch sights, and a smooth walnut grip with script cartouches and the hand marked matching partial serial number visible on the back under the grip strap.

Rating Definition:

Very good displaying primarily a mix of gray and brown patina along with some light oxidation and pitting. There are numerous small dings and marks. The grips are fine with sharp original cartouches, some light scratches and small chips at the toe. The backstrap is bent slightly upward. It is mechanically fine and has mostly crisp markings.
