According to the included factory letter, this revolver was part of a 100-revolver contract run handed over to the U.S. Inspector on 30 July 1878, with a later listing showing the revolver shipped to the Colt Office in New York on 17 December 1880. Fixed sights, with the one line block letter Hartford address on top of the barrel (unbroken "T" in "PT."), "H.N." (Henry Nettleton) and "P" on the underside. Three line, three date patent markings on the frame next to the "US" mark, with additional Nettleton proofs on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, hammer and cylinder. Matching numbers on the grip straps and cylinder. Smooth one-piece grip dated "1878" over the "JEG" (John Greer) inspector cartouche on the left side, a second cartouche on the right, and "H.N." on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled with a modern replacement barrel showing a mixed artificial gray and brown patina. 30% of the original case color is visible in the protected areas of the front strap. Grips are fine undersized replacements with faint cartouches, some chips, dents and dark spots. Mechanically very good.
