Introduced in 1887, the Number Three Target was produced in limited numbers, with only 1,413 manufactured in 38-44 S&W Target chambering, a proprietary black powder cartridge with no connection to the later 38-44 Heavy Duty cartridge. The revolver features an aftermarket floral scroll and dot engraving which covers the barrel and frame sides, back strap, and cylinder flats. Bead-topped blade front sight and an adjustable "U" notch rear sight, with the one-line cross-flanked address on top of the rib, matching numbers (697) on the barrel, latch and cylinder, casehardened hammer and trigger, and plain bone grips. The grey felt lined modern case has a cartridge block with 24 cartridges.

Very good as custom engraved. The revolver retains heavy amounts of silver finish in the protected areas otherwise a smooth gray patina. Some minor pitting is present. The slightly shrunken grips with a few hairline age cracks. Mechanically fine. The custom case is very good with some minor handling/storage marks.
