Description:

Manufactured in the mid 1860s. It features a brass blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight, high polish varnished grip, five-shot cylinder roll engraved with the standard military and naval scenes and marked with the 1859 patent date, and the standard Manhattan Newark address over the 1864 patent date on the top barrel flat. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. It has factory floral scroll engraving patterns with punch dot backgrounds on about 50% of the surfaces and closely matches the patterns and designs of revolvers engraved by Gustave Young suggesting he executed the patterns.

Rating Definition:

Fair. Traces of original silver plating remain on the grip frame which otherwise displays an aged brown patina. The remaining components display a brown patina and have some oxidation. The revarnished grip is good with mild scratches and edge wear. The action is fine. Some of the markings and engraving patterns are faint but most are distinct.
