This model was the first slide-action repeating shotgun built by Winchester and was manufactured between 1893 and 1897 with approximately 31,000 made. The 1893 was not successful as it was unable to handle modern smokeless loads, and in 1897 Winchester offered customers the option to trade in the 1893 for the new 1897. Many people took advantage of this offer and many Winchester Model 1893 shotguns were destroyed by Winchester. This particular shotgun was manufactured in 1895. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/Model 1893 patent date and "12" at the breech. The two line model designation is marked on the action bar and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame. The barrel has a 2 5/8 inch chamber and is choked cylinder. With a single bead sight and exposed hammer. Mounted with a grooved walnut forearm and plain round knob pistol grip stock with a blue shotgun buttplate. Length of pull is 12 7/8 inches.

Excellent with 97% plus original blue finish remaining showing scattered light surface scratches, light spotting on the left lower side of the frame, general handling marks and some heavier spotting on the inside of the trigger guard. The wood is also excellent general handling marks and a few light dings on the buttstock. The blue steel buttplate retains 90% bright original blue and shows light spotting and slight edge wear. Mechanically excellent.
