Manufactured in 1948. This model 12 features dual white bead sights on the matte vent rib, a 2 3/4 inch chamber and a full choke. Featuring floral scroll engraving on the frame and in a wedge on the barrel near the breech. The right side of the frame features a gold grouse in a circular border and the left features a hunting dog on point, also highlighted in gold. The engravers signature "N. Hartliep" is on the left side under the dog. Hartliep was a master engraver, author and Iowa native. Further examples of his work can be found in "American Engravers" by C. Roger Bleile. Mounted on a nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a steel grip cap and vented recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Very fine as master engraved, gold animals and finished with 99% of the blue and some scattered light handling marks. The wood is very good with some areas of thinning varnish, slightly smoothed checkering and general handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
