Manufactured in 1875, this example features gold inlay and ornate silver inlaid patterned grips. The gold inlay accents the top of the barrel while surrounding the two line Colt Hartford address marking. Additional gold inlaid patterns with line borders are featured on the sides of the frame, cylinder flats, back strap and top strap. Most of the top strap and back strap are covered in gold inlay. Niter blue finish with casehardened hammer and German silver half-moon front sight. The left side of the barrel has the acid etched "COLT NEW 30" caliber marking. According to firearms expert and author Norm Flayderman, "The 30 is an unusual chambering for a Colt firearm, and this was the only product made by the company in that caliber." The major period Colt outlet B. Kittredge & Co. introduced a marketing campaign for the New Line product line, which gave unique names for each caliber. The 30 caliber was known as "The Pony Colt." The barrel is numbered to the gun. The cylinder has long flutes. The walnut grips feature near full coverage of a scroll, floral blossom, and dot silver inlaid motif. The brown velvet lined, French cut case has an empty cartridge block.

Very fine as period retailer embellished. The revolver retains 97% of the niter blue finish showing some minor thinning. There is some minor pitting on the barrel. The grips are very fine with a few mild handling marks and a small section of repaired silver inlay. Action needs work as cylinder does not cycle when hammer is cocked. The case is fine with overall minor handling/storage marks and minimal high spot wear on the lining.
