Description:

According to the included letter, this was one of four handguns shipped to the Smith Brothers Hardware Company of Columbus, Ohio on 31 December 1926. At the time of shipping, it was outfitted with a pair of "Checkered Wood" grips. Although standard on most Colts, wood grips were disproportionately rare on the 1903/1908 Pocket Pistol, being comparable to ivory in the number ordered. Fixed sights and standard markings, checkered "COLT" banner grips and a two-tone magazine. Includes a factory box with a blue and white end label, hand-drawn number on the underside, proper internal labels, barrel brush, hanging tag, 1-sheet instruction manual, two "Special Instructions" pamphlets, and a small flyer from the Viscol Company of Boston, Massachusetts.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 97% plus original blue finish showing bright edge wear and a few light handling marks. The grips are fair period-appropriate replacements with a crack in the left panel emanating from the screw escutcheon and mild scuffing. The box is good as renumbered with some sections absent from the lid and mild scuffing. The papers are in good condition. Mechanically excellent.
