This stunning Mark IV Series 70 pistol features beautifully executed leafy acanthus scroll engraving with interspersed checkerboard patterns, fine texturing, and brilliantly bold gold inlays, covering almost the entire visible surface. As stated in the included letter from Master Engraver Raymundo Viramontez, this pistol has almost two years of hand work in the engraving and 24K gold inlays and was featured as a centerfold in the very first issue of American Handgunner in September/October of 1976. He further states, "This is a one-of-a-kind piece, that will not be duplicated at any price". The pistol features patriotic themed gold inlays of George Washington, the Liberty Bell, the classic drummers and fife player from "the Spirit of '76" painting, as well as other iconic American patriotic symbols. The trigger guard is inscribed "LIBERTY OR DEATH" and inlaid with fine gold wire. The smooth grips feature detailed American bald eagle carvings with inset precious stones. The right panel features four .25 CT genuine rubies, three .25 CT genuine sapphires, and a single round cut 3/4 CT diamond. The left panel is inset with four rubies, five sapphires, and a 1.97 CT brilliant round cut diamond. The pistol includes two separate appraisals, one for the piece as a whole, and another for the precious stones alone. Also included is a small bag containing one loose sapphire and one loose ruby which have come loose from the grips. Included with lot is a letter from the engraver and "International Society of Appraisers" appraisal letter, and 1 jewel which has fallen out of the left grip. The right grip is also missing a gem.
