Description:

Originally manufactured in 1943 by Remington-Rand for the United States Government. Included with this pistol is a letter from David W. Harris, Texas Master Engraver and former apprentice of Weldon Bledsoe, authenticating his work on the pistol, specifically a 3/4 coverage "American Scroll" engraving finished in nickel. This American Scroll, a punch dot backed scrollwork made famous by the 18th century New York masters employed by Colt, Smith & Wesson, and others, is laid out to preserve the military inspection marks and nomenclature, with floral accents filling the radius cuts near the trigger. Overall features are proper for a mid-WWII Remington Rand, with thin milled hammer, stamped trigger, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, and a High Standard barrel. The grips, unlisted on Harris' letter, are smooth polished bone, each panel fitted with a polished nickel badge of a longhorn steer head flanked with the letter "R" on each side; this badge has not been positively identified.

Rating Definition:

Fine as master engraved and plated, showing 98% high polish nickel, with a few dark spots and light handling marks overall. A few of the original markings have faded but overall remain clear and legible. The grips are excellent with a few light scratches and fine color and grain overall. Mechanically excellent.
