Developed in 1902, the Madsen was widely adopted and saw military use as late as the 1970s and was deployed in narcotics-related violence as late as 2013 both in the hands of Brazilian drug cartels and the Brazilian Military Police fighting them. Indonesia was a particularly late user and retained the Madsen as a training weapon into the 1980s; while the original markings on the left side of the receiver have been defaced, the commercial hang-tag on the trigger states that the arm was acquired from the Indonesian government in late 1983, suggesting this was a former Indonesian training weapon brought into the States after its retirement. Blade front and tangent rear sights, both offset to the right, and the former also serving as the base for the locking mechanism on the cone shaped flash hider/recoil booster. The receiver is equipped with a 3-position selector/safety and series of import marks. Fitted with a folding and swiveling bipod, a hinged carry handle, and a hardwood buttstock. Included with the gun is a gray-painted folding field mount, four extra magazines in a brown leather case, and an extra barrel assembly.

Very good with 70% of the black finish showing mild wear and scuffing overall. The carry handle shows some chips and scuffs, and the butt shows some dings and sanding. The underside of the buttstock has not been drilled to be compatible with the tripod in ground mode but is still useable in anti-aircraft mode, and the tripod itself is in good condition. Mechanically very good. NOTE: This weapon is a restricted, National Firearms Act (NFA) Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This weapon is currently registered as a "PRE-MAY 86 SALES SAMPLE" and as such can only be purchased by an FFL with a Class 2 or Class 3 SOT License; individuals/companies without these types of licenses cannot purchase this weapon.
