Description:

Lot consists of 91 brown paper boxes (mostly sealed) with white paper labels marked "15 Stuck/7,92-mm-Pat.Kz 43 SmE/mit St.-Hulse" (7.92mm short, 1943 model, with lacquered steel casing) and blue ink stamped "1316" and "12,9,61". Some rounds are loose with headstamps of "04/61", indicating manufacture in Konigswartha, East Germany. Presuming a full 15 rounds per box, this adds up to 1,369 rounds of ammunition. The crate is untreated wood construction with exterior labels bearing similar nomenclature to the box labels, a notation for 2400 rounds, a label inside the lid dated "12 Sept. 1961" and some hand markings. While the Sturmgewehr was retired from official military use with the downfall of Nazi Germany, left-over StGs were used to arm the East German Volkspolizei (VoPo) and other paramilitary units and was reportedly handed out by the Soviet Union as deniable armament for non-state actors.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Most of the boxes show a minimum of handling marks and a few have torn seals. The case is fair with tearing of the leather hinge/closure straps and chipping/cracking of the wood. A veritable treasure trove of scarce 7.92mm Kurz ammunition.
