Description:

This is an excellent example of a desirable DWM Model 1902 Swiss Contract Test Luger chambered in the 9 mm Luger cartridge that is fitted with the scarce short fat barrel configuration. This model falls right into the range of the 1902 cartridge counter and Danzig test lugers, however it was manufactured as a Swiss contract luger. It retains the "old" style receiver with flat leaf springs, short old style barrel extension, no stock lug, recessed breechblock, dished toggles with toggle locks and grip safety. The top of the chamber area is deeply stamped with the Swiss Cross/Sunburst with the "DWM" logo on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension has the small Swiss Cross firing proof, (which is also stamped on the left rear side of the barrel) and the Cross/V acceptance of Colonel Vogelsang the Swiss Army inspector. It is numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number "22049" on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel. The partial serial number "49" is on the various small parts. It has the unaltered, first pattern safety with the unmarked and bright polished lower area on the frame. It has the rust bled finish with straw colored smaller parts with checkered walnut grips. This Luger is complete with one original nickel plated magazine with an unnumbered wood base that has the small circular Swiss discs on the side of the base. This particular Luger is pictured, described and identified by serial number on pages 8 and 9 in "Lugers of Ralph Shattuck" from Mauser Publishing.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 98% of the blue finish overall with a hint of edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their straw colors overall with minor edge wear. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering overall with only a couple of very minor handling marks. It has all matching numbers to include the grips, except the magazine as noted above.
