Description:

10,000 of these pistol were ordered by Bulgaria in the 1908-10 in two different blocks of serial numbers. This specific pistol falls into the rare "first" block of serial numbers as it does not have the letter suffix. Although produced in fairly large numbers, these are a very difficult Luger to obtain as they saw heavy use prior to WWI and thru WWII where many were captured by the Russians. This model has the unique Bulgarian Crest marked chamber area with the DWM monogram on the front toggle. The safety area and extractor are both correctly marked "FIRE" and "LOADED" respectively in "Cyrillic" lettering. The right side of the barrel extension does not have the typical single Bulgarian rampant lion acceptance/proofmark. The full serial number is located on the front of the receiver and the underside of the barrel with the partial serial number "78" stamped on most of the various other parts with some correctly unnumbered. It has standard unnumbered walnut grips with a standard 1906 pattern magazine with a tin-plated body and a unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored with 98% blued finish overall with only edge and high spot wear with clear markings and crest. The smaller parts also retain 98% of the restrawed colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering and no handling marks, having been properly restored. Mechanically excellent.
