This is an example of a DWM Model 1923 Commercial Contract Luger that was produced after WWI. This example was produced for the U.S. market for the A.F. Stoeger Arms Company and has the "LOADED" and "SAFE" markings on the extractor and upper safety area and the distinctive American Eagle crest over the chamber area along with the DWM logo on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the roll markings of "GERMANY" followed by "A.F. STOEGER, INC./NEW YORK." They have the standard commercial "Crown/N" firing proof on the barrel extension and breechblock. The underside of the barrel is not numbered or proofed which indicates it was installed by the Stoeger company. The front of the frame is marked with serial number "1120" over "GERMANY" indicating it was intended for export. The various parts are all numbered in the commercial fashion, with the last two digits of the serial number (20) on the various smaller parts. It has the standard inverted barley corn front sight with the notch rear sight. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered, dark walnut checkered grips. It is accompanied by a single magazine with a polished magazine body and a wooden base that is stamped "GERMANY".

Very fine with 90% plus of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the front frame rails, side plate hump and stock lug. The front underside of the barrel has a minor, minor spot of pin-prick pitting with some fading of the blue in that area. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checking overall with minimal handling marks with a small chip in the upper left corner under the safety lever. It has all matching numbers except those noted above. Mechanically excellent.
