Description:

Manufactured in 1861 with the "NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" barrel address, standard "COLTS/PATENT" frame marking and naval battle cylinder scene, "3" and "31 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, cone and hammer notch sights, smooth walnut grip, and matching visible serial numbers. The case contains an Eley Bros. cap tin, a few lead bullets, package of American Powder Co. combustible cartridges, the key, a "COLTS/PATENT" dual cavity brass bullet mold, and American martial themed brass powder flask with slanted charger.

Rating Definition:

Fine as period, possibly factory refinished and fitted with a replacement wedge. The barrel retains 80% of the blue finish with some bright spots and streaks. The cylinder has traces of faded blue finish, some bright spots, and a distinct roll scene. 30% of the case colors remain with the balance silvering out. The grip frame retains 80% plus of the silver with a mixed aged patina overall and some rough surfaces. The grip is very good with several strike type marks. The case is fine with moderate storage wear including cracks. The interior has staining, fading, pressure marks, and some broken or partially loose dividers.
