Description:

Forerunner of the Type 14 Nambu that would be the standard Japanese sidearm of World War Two, the Grandpa Nambu was produced in relatively limited quantities well before the Papa Nambu was introduced, with only around 2,400 made by Tokyo Arsenal. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the "stacked cannonball" Tokyo mark on the chamber, 3-symbol nomenclature on the right side, and matching numbers on the frame, bolt, trigger, underside of the barrel, inside the checkered grips and on the back of the wood-based magazine. Included with the pistol is a brown leather flap holster with shoulder strap. Japanese characters are present under flap.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally restored, showing 95% plus quality rust blue with some covered pitting on the left side of the frame and scattered handling marks. The straw finished components are bright with 75% of the vivid nitre blue on the other components. Grips are fine as recut with attractive grain and crisp checkering. Holster is fine with some light scuffs and cracking, and is a bit large for the Grandpa, appearing to be fitted for a Bolo Broomhandle. Mechanically fine.
