Standard commemorative markings and features of the Secret Service percussion revolver. Complete in a wood display case with a silver flask, gold plated turnscrew, secret service badge and key. This revolver's serial number "458" matches several other commemorative revolvers in this auction most with Civil War era commemorative themes. Includes a copy of a letter held at the Library of Congress, from Allen Pinkerton to President Abraham Lincoln offering his services to the President in matters of spying and delivery of secret correspondences. Allen Pinkerton was the founder of the Pinkerton Detective Agency, a forerunner to the modern Secret Service.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% original finish. The silver plated barrel has taken on a mostly tarnished gray patina with some heavier discoloration closer to the breech. The frame shows areas of thinned silver finish with the underlying brass showing through. With some light handling marks on the grip frame and hammer. The grips are excellent with well defined checkering and light handling marks. The case is excellent with light general handling marks on the exterior.
