Manufactured in 1955, the very first year of Python production. As stated in the included factory letter, this revolver was shipped from Colt to Freeland's Scope Stand in Rock Island, Illinois as part of a four gun shipment. Freeland worked as a gunsmith, retailer and manufacturer of target/competition rifle accessories. With a pinned ramp blade front and fully adjustable rear notch sights, deep polished Colt royal blue finish and standard markings. The ejector housing has been counter bored leaving a long hollow section, found only in the earliest of python models The wide hammer features coarse borderless checkering and the trigger is serrated. Fitted with fully checkered walnut grips with inset gold Colt medallions.

Excellent with 98% plus original blue finish remaining, showing some light edge wear at the muzzle, a light drag line on the cylinder and some light gray patina on the back strap. The grips are also excellent with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
