The factory letter confirms this revolver and nine others in this configuration were shipped to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis on December 6, 1898. It has a modified blade front sight, standard top strap groove rear sight, standard markings including matching serial numbers, and is fitted with a pair of checkered grips with the Rampant Colt emblem at the top. The factory rework star is on the right rear of the trigger guard bow and factory rework numbers are on several of the components.

Fine as factory refinished. 40% of the blue finish and traces of the 25% faded case colors remain. The balance has a mottled gray patina and some light spotting. The replacement grips are fine with crisp checkering and minor handling wear including a few slight chips at the edges. It is mechanically excellent and has mostly crisp markings.
