With a single nickel bead sight on the solid, smooth concave rib marked "W&C. SCOTT & SON. PATENTEES. LONDON". With 2 9/16 inch chambers and cylinder/improved modified chokes. This classic British hammer gun features a top lever operating a Purdey bolt by way of a Scott spindle. The casehardened frame features tight highly detailed English style floral scroll engraving with a small scene of a dog and game bird on the right lock plate and a fox and ducks on the left lock plate. Large sunbursts at the main hinge and each lock plate marked "W&C SCOTT & SON". The trigger guard and lower tang are similarly engraved and marked with the serial number. With standard late 1800s British commercial proofs on the underside of the barrels. Mounted on a checkered walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 13 7/8 inches.

Very good as refinished with 80% of the brown finish on the barrels with scattered dings and some light pitting under the brown. The casehardened frame has aged to a mostly silver/gray patina with some small areas of light spotting, general handling marks, and some small dings. The wood is very good as refreshed with well defined checkering, scattered small dings, and some small repairs on the forearm. Mechanically very good.
