Manufactured circa 1927. This Sterlingworth has been carefully restored and meticulously engraved and gold inlaid by the late Dan Paul of Blackfoot, Idaho. The barrels feature 1 inch wedges of tight detailed floral scroll at the muzzle, standard maker and steel markings, 1 inch wedges of detailed scroll just forward of the breech and double gold inlaid bands at the breech. The blue/black frame has been engraved with more tight scrollwork on the sides with small highly detailed gold inlaid quails at the rear. The trigger guard, fences and top of the frame are also engraved. The underside of the frame features an intensely detailed field scene of a dog and three birds in flight, the dog and birds are wonderfully gold inlaid. The serial number and safety markings are also gold inlaid. Dan Paul was recognized by the Safari Club as one of the five top engravers prior to his death in 1998. With nickel bead front and white bead mid sights on the solid rib, 2 1/2 inch chambers and improved cylinder/improved modified chokes Mounted on a custom nicely figured spade checkered beavertail forearm with an engraved inset medallion of a gold inlaid quail, the engravers signature "DAN PAUL" is on the forearm hardware. Fitted with a English style straight grip stock with heart checkered flats, attractive grain, dark figuring and a Decelerator recoil pad. Additional measurements are as follows: Bore diameter at 9 inches from breech R .619/L .619; Wall thickness at 9 inches from breech .050, drop at comb 1 11/32 inches, drop at heel 2 1/16 inches, 1/8 inch toe in; 0 cast, barrel and forearm weight 3 Lbs 9.2 Oz; Overall weight 6 Lbs 6.8 Oz.

Very fine as master engraved, gold inlaid and finished by Dan Paul with 99% of the blue remaining, showing small scattered dings and light pitting under the blue as well as light general handling marks. The wood is very fine with some small scuffs, light handling marks and scattered small indentations. Mechanically excellent.
