Manufactured in 1991, this fantastic shotgun features full coverage, incredibly intricate and detailed Renaissance style, large, semi-relief, open scroll acanthus with floral highlights. The small lock pins are brilliantly gold washed. The lock plates feature hidden thumbnail style clips to detach from the frame. The top of the break lever features a gold inlaid crown and the trigger guard is marked with a gold inlaid "EL" monogram in fancy script. The trigger guard plate is signed "FRACASSI F." just to the left of the trigger. Fracassi has been widely regarded as one of the finest Italian engravers, and is one of the few to have books published exclusively with his work, and to commission an engraving of this scale would easily cost tens of thousands of dollars today. The barrels have a wide matte ventilated rib with a high visibility orange blade sight as well as standard maker and steel markings. The chambers measure 2 3/4 inches. With fixed chokes gauging at full and improved modified. The top of the rib is marked with a gold inlaid "1". With a single non-selective gold wash trigger and manual thumb safety. Mounted on a nicely figured dark European walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering, engraved hardware and a checkered naked butt. Excellent with 99% original finish and some light handling marks. The engravings are incredibly detailed and sharp with brilliant, lustrous gold inlays. The wood is very fine with great marble pattern figuring, rich dark color, sharp checkering highly attractive grain and what appears to be a few small blemishes on the left face of the buttstock that have been professionally filled. The case is fair with discoloration and wear on the exterior as well as moderate staining on the interior.
