The scroll engraved action is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on each side. The upper right barrel flat has the one-line address, and the upper left has "WINNERS OF ALL THE FIELD RIFLE TRIALS 250 SEMI SMOOTH BORE". The serial numbers match throughout. It is equipped with a beaded blade front sight, notch rear sight with folding leaf, a Lyman peep sight behind the upper tang on the checkered pistol grip buttstock which also has a silver initial shield and serrated bare butt, a checkered forearm with horn forend cap, automatic tang safety, and an automatic ejector. The barrel has been fitted with a rifled .22 caliber sleeve. It comes in a luggage style take down case with Holland & Holland label and many accessories including cleaning and maintenance tools.

Fine as professionally converted. The barrel retains 85% of the blue finish. The action has traces of the mostly silvered case colors. There are scattered patches of light oxidation and mild pitting. The wood is very good with crisp checkering, numerous dings and scrapes, and a few chips. It is mechanically excellent and has crisp markings. The case is fine with moderate aging and wear from handling and storage including some staining and tears, and the accessories are very good.
