Manufactured in 1870. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. The top of the receiver is marked with the French retailer mark "Gunther & Cie Frt Strasbourg, 46 Paris". Blade front sight integral with the barrel band and folding two leaf rare sight. There is a saddle ring and staple attached to the left rear of the receiver. Blue barrel and magazine tube with nickel plated remaining parts. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with buttstock compartment, (cleaning rod not included).

Fine as partially refinished (barrel). The balance of the barrel and magazine tube have traces of original blue mixed with a dark patina with some light spotting and pin prick type pitting. The remaining parts retain 80% period, possibly retailer applied nickel patina with edge wear and flaking on the receiver and buttplate. The lever retains traces of nickel finish and shows some minor pitting. The wood is near excellent with a few minor scratches and a few minor handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
