LE PAGE MOUTIER ARQR A PARIS" inlaid on top, blade sights and French gray remaining components with intricate scrollwork engraving and border designs. The patent breeches and upper tangs are marked "1" and "2" respectively followed by the notch rear sights. The French walnut stocks have fluted grips and panels of relief scroll carving. "985" is lightly stamped to the left of the upper tangs on the stocks. The pair comes in a varnished walnut case with dark blue velvet lining, "LEPAGE MOUTIER/A/PARIS" on the inside of the lid along with a golden border design, is French fitted to the pistols and accessories, and has an unmarked brass plate on the lid. The case contains a wooden mallet, cleaning rod, ramrods (one brass), bullet mold, measure, flask, cap box, screwdriver, key, and several lead balls. Also included is a description of the pistols from Pierre de Souzy of Le Sphinx in Paris. The Le Page business remained in the control of the same family of gunmakers from 1717 until 1913 and manufactured some of the finest firearms in history including many pieces presented by royalty and world leaders. Le Page weapons won many awards at the famous mid-19th century Paris exhibitions.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. 98% plus of the bright original high polished blue finish and gold inlay remain with some scratches on the bottom just ahead of the stock and otherwise only light handling marks. The French gray finished components have some light patina and slight spotting. The stock is also excellent with crisp engraving and only slight marks from handing and storage. The lock functions perfectly, and the engraving patterns are crisp.
