Description:

Measuring 11 3/8 inches overall, with a 7 inch blade. The blade shows a deep single fuller on each side, with a wavy hamon and strong metal grain. Fittings are of silver or silver plated construction in an aikuchi pattern, with a single floral mekugi on the left side under the black cord wrapping, gold and niello silver accents on the floral pattern kashira, and a black lacquer finished saya with additional floral patterns on the fittings. An untranslated 2-symbol signature is present on the left side of the tang.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. A few small dark spots are visible on the blade, concentrated near the tip, with well defined grain and a strong hamon. The rayskin is opening up at the seam, with some light staining on the cord and a fine aged color to the silver. The saya has been repaired, with fresh lacquer applied over chips and cracks, with a pair of empty kogatana/kogai slots and fine decoration. An excellent Japanese knife.
