Description:

1) Signed 20th century sword, 37 1/2 inches overall with a 26 1/4 inch blade, wavy hamon, copper habaki, round iron tsuba with a pierced-through cherry blossom on one side, black cord wrap and dragon themed hilt fittings. With a gold lacquer finished saya. An 8-figure signature is present on the left side of the tang beneath a "showa" stamp, with one mekugi-ana. 2) Unsigned sword, 31 1/4 inches long with a 21 1/4 inch blade, wavy/jagged hamon, copper habaki, round iron tsuba with pierced vent holes, floral engraved fuchi, black cord wrap over animal themed menuki, and a leather covered saya. Tang is unmarked, with a single mekugi-ana. A cloth sword bag is included with the lot

Rating Definition:

1) Fair, the blade has been polished, with spotting and scratches, as well as some chipping of the blade. The koshirae is absent from the hilt, with a length of white cord in its place. The saya is poor, with chipping and absent components. 2) Good, with some spotting and handling marks on the blade, with some polishing and splitting of the grain. The fittings are fair, with some splitting of the rayskin and scuffing of the leather. The bag is fair, with some lost stitching and repairs.
