Description:

Both items feature a Japanese style blade fitted with a copper habaki and a set of extensively carved fittings. Neither shows a visible hamon, and neither could be dismounted for tang inspection 1) Sword, 30 inches long with a 24 1/4 inch blade, with a spiral key patterns and scenes of civilians in a fortress. 2) Tanto-length knife, 17 3/4 inches overall with a 11 1/2 inch blade, showing ho-o birds and floral patterns at each end of the fittings, a group of officers planning a battle on the grip, and a battle scene overlooked by heavenly figures on the saya.

Rating Definition:

Good, with some chips and scuffs on the blades. #1 shows a few lost/absent sections of the fittings, and both show cracking and glue repairs.
