This Italian gun making firm is located in Gardone Val Trompia in the province of Brescia. Its shotguns are hand crafted and limited to a few each year. Each gun is made to individual specifications and considered by many to be one of the best double shotguns made in the world today. This matching pair of consecutively serial numbered shotguns feature a single bead sight on matte concave rib, choked modified/improved modified, 2 3/4 inch chambers and ejectors. The breech end of the rib has a gold inlaid "1", (A gun) and "2", (B gun). The left barrel is marked " FLLI PIOTTI ITALY". The underside of the right barrel is marked "W L MOORE, WESTLAKE, CA MOD. KING". The underside of the right barrel is also marked "KGI.310", "CAM 70" on the left and both marked "18.5" and with an Italian proofmark. Blue barrels, and the frame, side locks, break lever, trigger guard and the forearm hardware have a coin finish and are very nicely floral scroll engraved with gold inlaid "F.LLI PIOTTI" on each lock and a gold inlaid "1" on the forend hardware and break lever of this gun and "2" on the "B" gun. Directly to the right of the trigger guard is signed "CRANETTI". Matching serial number on the lower tang, water table, barrel flat and forearm hardware. H&H style side lock with double triggers, tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid "S" and cocking indicators. Mounted with an extra fancy nicely figured multi-point finely checkered splinter forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt and "R/J/B" inscribed gold initial oval. Length of pull is 14 7/8 inches. Drop at comb is 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel is 2 1/8 inch and no cast. Complete with a brown leather combination locking case with leather corner protectors, handle and straps, a green partially padded felt lining with a leather Piotti label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case is a two piece nicely figured wooden cleaning rod, a nickel oiler and a jag.
