Description:

This is an interesting example of an early DWM Model 1906 type short frame with the first pattern unaltered safety markings that has been reworked into a 1920 style commercial Luger pistol. It has a new style frame with the coil spring action with the "lower" safety area, marked "GESICHERT", with a grip safety numbered in a military style with a letter suffix behind the serial number. These were all manufactured after WWI when the DWM factory was trying to garner any commercial sale in the US or Germany and it was using any left over military luger for commercial sales. It is correctly chambered in 7.65mm luger and it has the blank chamber area, with the DWM logo on the front toggle. It has fixed front and rear sights, with no proofs except for the standard "Crown/N" commercial proof on the left side of the barrel extension on the underside of the barrel. It has the rust blued metal finish with straw colored small parts. It is fitted with checkered grips and comes with a single nickel plated magazine with a unmarked wood base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored/assembled with only minor edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their restrawed colors overall. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checking showing only very light wear across the tops of the diamonds. Mechanically excellent.
