Description:

The Luger Carbine was intended as a substitute for the light hunting rifles then available on the market, being highly compact when disassembled and light and easy to maneuver when together, and many were exported to the United States during the time of production. Ramp blade front and 300-meter sliding notch rear sights, with the "DWM" monogram on the toggle, "crown" proofs on multiple parts, and matching numbers on the majority of the parts. No import markings are present, suggesting that it was originally intended for the German market. Fitted with a checkered Schnabel tip forearm with integral booster spring, a pair of checkered grips, nickel finished magazine with unmarked wood base, and a detachable shoulder stock with a checkered wrist and a serrated horn buttplate. Also included with the lot is a brown leather field case with padded pockets for the pistol and stock, as well as a brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally refinished, showing 98% of the blue, with a few light handling marks and minimal edge wear overall. Numbers are absent from the hold-open and firing pin, and the stock mounting iron has been renumbered to match the pistol. Bright straw color and fiery nitre blue are present on the small components. The wood is excellent, with a few light dings, crisp checkering and attractive grain. A few small chips and voids are visible on the buttplate, chiefly on the left side. The field case is good showing wear and scuffling appropriate to age and a few torn straps. Mechanically excellent.
