Description:

This is a very fine example of a late WWII assembled luger pistol that has the earlier 1940 dated chamber combined with the late war "byf" marked front toggle. This Luger is another example of a late war assembly using left over factory parts and/or armorers parts that did not receive any of the German inspection or acceptance proofs. The armorers replacement frame is unnumbered (never was serialized!) and there are no proofs on the barrel extension or any other parts. Some of the various smaller parts have a single "42" stamp on them indicating they were Mauser replacement parts that came from an armorers repair kit. The front trigger guard bow has a single small "eagle/63" proof indicating the frame was from an earlier production run. It has the all blued finish with checkered walnut grips. It is fitted with an all blue replacement magazine with an unnumbered aluminum base, stamped "42".

Rating Definition:

Very fine as assembled (see above) with 97% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with general thinning of the blue in some area. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering overall showing wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with some minor handling marks and nicks.
