Description:

This is a DWM 1920 Luger that is complete with the 1920 style walnut shoulder stock. These pistols were produced after WWI by DWM using left over Lugers that were converted into a carbine configuration by the addition of a forend hanger to the front of the frame. The top of the chamber area is blank which is correct for a 1920 Commercial and the front toggle is marked DWM. It has a new model style frame with the coil spring under the grip, and the right side of the barrel extension is marked "GERMANY" and the left side is marked with a "crown/N" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked with the full serial number "4048" and a commercial "crown/N" proof. The front of the frame has the correct forend hanger installed and it is serial numbered under the hanger "4048". The left side of the breechblock is also marked with a "crown/N" proof. The safety area is the second or altered pattern that is marked "GEISCHERT" in the upper position and the extractor is marked "LOADED" indicating it was intended for sale in the US. It has the correct style ramp front sight with high front sight with the rounded front edge and the correct 100 and 200 Meter marked Navy rear sight. The grips are nicely checkered walnut. It has a very nice walnut forend that duplicate the original pattern almost identically except it is too long, which give the pistol a Mannlicher appearance. The carbine stock is also very nice replacement that duplicate the original pattern with a nice piece of walnut with the correct checkered pattern on each side of the grip area with a black plastic butt plate. The stock iron is blued and unnumbered. The pistol has the all rust blued finish with the correct straw colored parts on the trigger, take down lever, ejector, magazine release and safety lever. It is numbered with the full serial number on the underside of the forend hanger and the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number on the breechblock, rear toggle, trigger, take down lever, grip safety and the bottom of the barrel extension lug is unnumbered.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as custom made with 95% of a refurbished blue finish with 90% plus of the straw finish remaining. The markings are clear and sharp. The grips, forend, and stock are all near mint with nice sharp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
