Description:

This is a very unique example of a custom made long barreled 22LR Luger pistol, manufactured on a DWM model 1908 frame and Swiss barrel extension. It is fitted with a very early 22 LR conversion unit that is very similar to the pre/post war Erma conversion units however this example has been fitted with a long 6 1/2 inch barrel which has been bored out and fitted with a permanent 22 LR liner. The breech end of the barrel actually extends approximately 3/8 inch beyond the end of the standard barrel, with the face of the breech bolt being slightly shorter than a standard Erma unit. The frame is a standard DWM 1908 type that does not have the stock lug and has had the standard hold open latch and recoil spring assembly removed, as the conversion unit has its own internal recoil spring assembly with a very unique cocking indicator. This indicator actually extends approximately 1 inch from the rear of the conversion unit; clearly indicating when it is cocked. The top of the barrel extension is marked with the Swiss Cross inside a Sunburst and the conversion unit, barrel and frame are all numbered together (7272). It has the standard checkered walnut grips and it is fitted with a very unique one-piece 22LR magazine with a wooden base. The entire pistol is devoid of any proof or acceptance marks, except for the limited serial numbers, found on the conversion unit, underside of the barrel, trigger, side plate and take down lever. It has an all blued finish with straw colored smaller parts.

Rating Definition:

Fine as custom made with 98% of the restored blue finish overall with clear markings. The smaller parts retain 65% of their fading straw colors overall. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering showing light wear across the tops of the checkering. As noted this unique custom made 22 LR Luger pistol has matching numbers on the various parts.
