Description:

This was a late WWI Artillery luger that was reworked during the early post WWI Weimar era. It has the blade front sight with the artillery type tangent rear sight, produced without the fine adjustment screws. The chamber is stamped "1920/1918" indicating it was reworked in 1920, during the Weimar era with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. It has the standard Imperial Army, three "Crown/letter" acceptance proofs on the barrel extension, along with the eagle firing proofs on the barrel and breechblock. The rear back strap has been restamped/panagraphed with the later Imperial Navy markings of a "M/anchor/1608". It has the standard German safe and loaded markings on the frame and extractor. It is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number on the frame, barrel and barrel extension with the last two digits on the smaller parts. It has checkered walnut grips and comes with a polished steel magazine with a unmarked wooden base. It has a blue metal finish and straw colored smaller parts.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished and remarked with 90% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, with thinning on the side plate hump and frame rails. The smaller parts retain 30% of their straw colors overall. The walnut grips are in very good condition with distinct checkering on the side mixed with minor/light handling marks, with slightly more wear on the left side which also shows some minor handling marks and light pressure dents. The side plate and toggle pin have been renumbered, possibly during the rework process. Mechanically excellent.
