Description:

Constructed from olive green herringbone wool with a tan cotton liner, this officer's tunic is fitted with blackened brass "U.S." and silver plated aviator wings on each lapel, a set of silver plated captain's bars on the shoulders, silver finished reserve/junior aviator wings and a rainbow World War I Victory ribbon on the left breast, and a rare sterling silver Indian Head squadron insignia on the left breast pocket. The Indian Head was the unit insignia of the 93rd Aero Squadron. Formed in 1917, the 93rd was trained by the British Royal Air Corps. Before the end of World War I, the 93rd produced 3 aces, knocked out 31 enemy airplanes and one balloon, and earned campaign streamers for the St. Mihel and Meuse-Argonne offensives. Also included with the tunic is an officer's garrison hat with faint Columbus, Ohio merchant markings and a "36" marked russet leather Sam Browne belt with shoulder strap.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall. The tunic shows some mild wear on the fittings, with some mild cracks on the belt. The cap is very good with some staining and tearing of the sweatband, a few scuffs on the brim, and mild verdigris on the badge.
