Manufactured in 1918. Fixed sights, with the two line, two block Colt patents and address on the left side of the slide divided by the Rampant Colt and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" in sans-serif letters on the right. The "eagle/S16" proofed frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the right side above the serial number. Fitted with the long trigger, flat top rear sight, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, checkered slide stop and thumb safety and flat mainspring housing with lanyard staple. Checkered hardwood grips with diamond patterns around the screws and a full blue barrel marked "S/P" on the lug. The collector phrase "Black Army" was established due to the dark brush blue appearance of late World War I produced Model 1911's.

Fine with 60% plus of the original dark bush blue finish showing streaks of brown patina on the slide, scattered spotting, bright edge wear and some takedown marks around the slide stop. The grips are also fine with some dents and flat spots. Mechanically excellent.
