Description:

This is an example of a mid WWII M1 carbine as manufactured by the IBM Corp. This carbine is one of the more desirable versions that was produced in relatively low numbers. The rear of the receiver is marked is with "IBM CORP." over the serial number and the front end of the barrel is marked "I.B.M. CORP/11-43/flaming bomb" It has a mix of early and late parts with most of them being Korean war upgrades like the type three barrel band, toggle safety and adjustable rear sight. The GI hardwood stock is the earlier flat bottomed type and the handguard is a late four rivet hardwood replacement. The right side of the buttstock is marked with a boxed "RIA/EB" inspection cartouche and the Ordnance Dept crossed cannons stamp. It includes a U.S. PAL M4 bayonet with a fiberglass sheath, two green canvas web slings and an extended M2 style magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 95% plus gray/green parkerized finish remaining, showing scattered handling marks, areas of light high point and edge wear and some cycling marks on the bolt. The wood is very good as lightly sanded and oiled with scattered indentations, light surface scratches and general handling marks. Mechanically very good. Bayonet is good.
