These were the standard commercial Winchester Model 1200 shotguns produced during the late 1960s and mid-early 1970s that were purchased/adapted for the military by adding a bayonet lug/heat shield to the barrel. Very few real trench shotguns were actually released by the military with most being destroyed in the mid-late 1980s. The barrel is fitted with a six-hole, heat shield/handguard that has a unmarked bayonet lug on the front end. The left rear side of the barrel is stamped with "U.S." over the two-line Winchester model and factory address, over "CYL.". The front edge of the receiver has the Winchester circled "WP" proofmarks with the underside having the "L" prefix commercial serial number. It is fitted with a commercial type walnut pump handle and buttstock that has a black plastic Winchester marked buttplate and a lower sling swivel. The receiver has a black anodized finish with the remaining parts having a parkerized finish. The length of pull is 14 inches and it comes with a Vietnam era web sling.

Very fine as possibly Arsenal assembled with 95% of the refurbished black anodized/gray parkerized finish overall on the metal parts. The wood components are both in excellent condition showing minimal handling marks. The front end of the heat shield/bayonet lug extends slightly beyond the end of the barrel.
