With a beaded blade front and two position rear notch sights on the unmarked matte rib. The 16 gauge shotgun barrels have 2 9/16 inch chambers and a choked improved modified/full. The rear of the rib has two dovetail cuts, possibly used for a scope mount. The casehardened receiver is moderately engraved with tight whirling scroll and is marked "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" on both sides. The back action is fitted with a left side mounted cocking/selector lever and a tang mounted thumb safety. Mounted on a multi-point checkered round knob pistol grip stock and splinter forearm with sling swivels on the buttstock and barrel inscription plaque reading "MIKE/40 YEARS/PATTEN", secondary black initial oval and a checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 inches.

Fine as partially refinished (cold blue touch up present on barrels) with balance of gun retaining 90% of the original blue finish on the barrels, showing scattered edge wear, light dings and some light spotting. The receiver shows high point and edge wear as well as spotting and light pitting on the trigger guard. The wood is very good with general handling marks, well defined checkering, scattered indentations and gaps around the inscription plates. Mechanically fine.
