Description:

Manufactured between 1907 and 1915, the Triple Lock was Smith & Wesson's first production revolver for the then-new 44 Special cartridge and featured the distinctive third locking lug to secure the barrel and yoke during firing; while mechanically impressive and representative of some of the finest hand-craftsmanship of the history of the firm, the system was overkill and was retired for about a century, making a comeback with Wesson's modern generation of X-Frame super-magnums. Blade front and "U" notch rear sights, with the two-line address on top of the barrel, "+44 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG+" on the left, matching "5094" assembly numbers on the frame and crane, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The locking lug is installed on the yoke, with the spring loaded plunger inside the barrel lug and the proper cut through the frame; the machining on this is so precise that you can run your finger right over the frame and lug without feeling a seam or break when closed. Fitted with a casehardened hammer and trigger and a pair of checkered medallion grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus bright original high polish blue finish showing a few light handling marks overall. The case colors are strong on the hammer and the top of the trigger. The grips are excellent with a small ding present on the right panel, crisp checkering and attractive grain. Mechanically excellent.
